KLASSIEK REVISITED

I have played the classical piano ever since my childhood. Together with my brother Steven, I have performed four-hands piano recitals and we have recorded several internationally acclaimed albums with music by Antonin Dvorak and Johannes Brahms, among others.

In my Klassiek Revisited concert, it’s just me playing the piano. I’m accompanied on stage by four strings and a guitarist. The music is subtly supported by live electronics, atmospheric video projections and an intimate light show. The leitmotif is my own lyrics, edited by Eva Berghmans (journalist at De Standaard), and illustrated by Cindy Van Briel.

Klassiek Revisited explores the relevance of classical music in our day and age. The performance features post-classical reinterpretations of well-known pieces, like Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, recomposed by Max Richter. Or The Chopin Project: a nocturne by Frédéric Chopin with newly composed, melancholic string pieces by Olafur Arnalds. Or Johann Sebastian Bach ‘s famous cello suites, adapted by Peter Gregson. With dreamy piano music by Nils Frahm and Philip Glass as well as Jóhann Jóhansson’s breathtakingly beautiful Orphée, our repertoire will more than suffice for an unforgettable evening.

Music of timeless beauty. An intimate night, which will slow down and pause our hasty, modern life.
